Disability Services
Mesabi Range College has a strong commitment to providing equal access for students with disabilities, and fully complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act, as well as Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. It is our policy to provide accessible programs, services, activities and reasonable accommodations for all students with disabilities.
Each campus provides services to people with disabilities through which reasonable accommodations are coordinated. Program staff will work with each student individually to ensure they receive equal opportunity to pursue their education. It is the responsibility of the student to seek available assistance and to make their needs known.

Who is Eligible?
An individual with a disability is defined as any person who:
- Any person who has a physical or mental impairment which substantially limits one or more so such person's major life activities (walking, talking, breathing, caring for oneself, performing manual tasks, see, hearing, learning, etc.)
- Any person who has a record of such impairment which means that a person has a history of, or has been classified as having a mental or physical impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities
- Any person who is regarded as having such impairment which means:
has a physical or mental impairment that may not substantially limit major life activities, but that is treated by others as constituting such a limitation;
has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits major life activities only as a result of the attitudes of others toward such an impairment;
has no impairment, but is treated by others as having an impairment

How to Request Disability Services
1. Request accommodations from the Disability Services Director
2. New students should make an appointment with the Disability Services Director to talk about individual needs
3. Provide documentation of your disability from an appropriate source
4. Request accommodations each term and work with the Disability Services Director in implementing accommodations
5. Communicate and keep the Disability Services Director informed of your progress and report any service needs
