Assessment and Registration


Eveleth campus students: You will receive a letter with assessment and registration date(s) and time(s). 

Virginia campus students: If you have not applied, apply now, because you will need your student ID for the next step. APPLY NOW!!

Assessment & Registration sessions will last a minimum of 3 hours. Plan your schedule accordingly. Once you complete the session, you will leave with your college schedule.

Registration

New, incoming students are required to attend a registration session, which will cover important information about Mesabi Range College services and policies. This is also an opportunity for you to meet advisors that will help you with your course selection.

All new students must take the Accuplacer before registering for classes. The Accuplacer is an assessment test of Reading, English and Mathematics. Mesabi Range College uses this test to determine your skill level, and also to determine your placement in campus courses. You may re-test once per fiscal year (July 1st through June 30th).

In some instances, you may be exempt from taking the Accuplacer.

  1. If you have taken the Accuplacer within the last two years. (Reading score of 78 or higher, Sentence Skills score of 86 or higher, Elementary Algebra score of 76 or College Level Math of 50 or higher)
  2. Transfer students with previous college coursework
  3. College-ready scores are as follows: 

    Qualifying test scores may facilitate registration into college-level courses that have prerequisites based on correlating Accuplacer scores. Refer to your selected program plan for details about your program and course requirements.

    Time validation: ACT, MCA and SAT scores are valid for five years, inclusive of the current calendar year.
