Employment Opportunities
Work-Study is a way for students to earn money to assist them in their educational costs. Students are paid $8.00 per hour for each hour of work. Generally, students can work 10 hours per week for each week of the semester. Students perform work-study during their non-class time.
How to obtain work-study:
- Work-study Eligibility (WSEL) is listed on the student's award letter.
- The student obtains a Work-study Authorization form from the Financial Aid Office.
- The student reviews the list of work-study postings (Virginia campus or Eveleth campus) and finds one that he or she wants.
- The student meets with the work-study supervisor that is listed on the work-study posting.
- The student and the work-study supervisor agree on a schedule.
- The work-study supervisor signs the Work-study Authorization and the student brings the signed authorization to the Financial Aid Office.
- The student completes their portion of the Work-study Authorization and completes a W-4 and I9 Form.
- The student provides a copy of their driver's license and social security card to the Financial Aid Office.
How will I get paid for work-study:
- Students are paid for work-study performed every two weeks.
- The Student Time Sheet is given to the work-study supervisor and filled out by you the student and is signed by both you and your work-study supervisor.
- The Student Time Sheet is turned in to the Business Office. Time sheets have due dates on them as well as when the student can expect to receive the check for the hours worked.
