Masonry Program

About the Program

Fast-track your future to success by earning a Masonry Certificate in just 7 months in Minnesota's only college Masonry program! Start the program in August and finish in mid-March, just in time for the spring hiring season.

This video was made by one of our first semester Graphic Design Media Students.

Students will receive hands-on training in the principles of blockwork, concrete, brick, and stone masonry by constructing small and large masonry projects in our shop, as well as doing numerous off campus projects. Students will also learn to work off residential blueprints to compute materials and costs on the job. Our instructor brings over 25 years of industry experience and has worked with Mesabi Range College for 4 years. He will give you all the tools to be successful as a Mason, which is why we do not require any previous experience or knowledge of the Masonry industry.

Career Opportunities

Graduates find work with small and large contractors fulfilling the growing need for professional masons. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the job outlook for Masons is expected to grow by 34% (much faster than average) from 2012-2022. The journeyman mason averages approximately $22 per hour across the United States while Minnesota averages over $30 per hour. Nearly 100% of homes built today contain some type of masonry construction. Masonry construction is very strong, low maintenance, and serves the needs of our population with roads, buildings, water and drain systems, factories, hospitals, homes, etc.
