Jennifer Willard, Director

Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from The College of St. Scholastica in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations and Advertising, as well as a Master's Degree in Education with an emphasis in Leadership in Higher Education from Capella University. She has been employed at Mesabi Range College for fourteen years in various positions such as advising technical programs, Public Information Director, Student Senate Advisor, and the Director of Concurrent Enrollment and Applied Learning Institute programs.

In her free time, Jennifer enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching hockey, baking, shopping, and playing volleyball.

Cindy Altobelli, Administrative Assistant

Cindy has been with the SSS program for 16 years. She works with both students in the SSS grant and students not in the grant. Cindy graduated from Mesabi Range Community College with a diploma in Office Administration. She has a huge heart for students and energy to see them succeed at every step in their life journey. If you're looking for an action filled work study job and would like to experience the college atmosphere of working in the main office on campus, please see Cindy as she is always in need of help at the front desk!

Outside of work Cindy loves spending time with family & friends, living on Lake Vermilion where she enjoys fishing & boating, making treats to share, and getting snowed in.

Kelly Bakk, Counselor

Kelly received her AA degree from Mesabi Range Community & Technical College in 1998, her Bachelors degree from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2000 and her Masters degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2005. Kelly was employed at Lake Superior College from 2005-2010 having served as a Professional Advisor and the Director of Advising Services. Kelly began working at Mesabi in 2010 as the Academic Coordinator for the Upward Bound Math & Science program and has recently begun serving as the SSS and campus counselor.

In her free time, she loves spending time with her family, shopping, and going on trips. She looks forward to helping you achieve your academic goals!

Davis Lamppa, Advisor

Davis received his AA degree from Itasca Community College in 2002, his Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of Wisconsin-Superior in 2004, and his Master’s Degree in Sports Management in 2008 from the United States Sports Academy. Davis has been in higher education since 2005 working at Vermilion Community College in the role of Head Volleyball Coach, Head Softball Coach and faculty member. Davis made the move to Mesabi Range College in 2015 serving as the college’s Head Women’s Basketball Coach (until 2018) and Academic Advisor.

Outside of work, Davis loves spending time with family, coaching his sons in whatever sport is in season, fishing and officiating various high school and college sports.

Antavius Thomas, Mentor/Coach

Antavius is entering his second year on staff at Mesabi Range College as the TRIO SSS Mentor/Coach. He loves his role at Mesabi Range College and is blessed to have this opportunity. He is also the Diversity Officer, Student Success Advisor, Student Life and Student Senate Advisor, and Assistant Head Coach of the football team. Antavius graduated from Mesabi Range College with a diploma in Early Childhood Education. He brings exciting activities and ideas to the college, and is always searching for ways to see each student succeed.

Outside of work, Antavius loves spending time with his family, playing sports with his three daughters, and watching them compete in sporting events.
